Mobie’s CompetenceX supports rower Joel Naukkarinen’s journey to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Mobie Oy and CompetenceX -brand are starting a collaboration with one of Finland’s most versatile and successful rowers, Joel Naukkarinen. The partnership will support Joel’s journey towards the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and reinforce Mobie’s vision of excellence in sports, work and organisational knowledge management.

Joel Naukkarinen tunnetaan huippu-urheilijana, lääkärinä ja tutkijana, joka on rakentanut uransa tinkimättömän työn, analyyttisen oppimisen ja kyvyn yhdistää vaativa harjoittelu akateemiseen uraan. Ahooy Creative Oyn kanssa toteutettu henkilöbrändiuudistus vuonna 2023 nosti Joelin näkyvyyden uudelle tasolle, lisäsi kumppanuuksia ja vahvisti tarinaa “The Rowing Finn” -identiteetin ympärille.

“I have known Joel since his time at the Kuopio Regional Sports Academy, when he combined his medical studies with an international rowing career in an exceptionally determined way. Balancing studies, professional life, and elite sports is a theme that has also been central in my own career – and this kind of multidisciplinary expertise is precisely at the core of Mobie’s CompetenceX platform.

CompetenceX provides companies with the tools to develop their human capital and grow internationally. Joel’s story shows how goal-oriented training, learning and unleashing your potential can lead to top-level performance. This is the same philosophy we want to promote in the business world – and why we want to be part of Joel’s journey towards the Los Angeles Olympics.”

Learning is an athlete’s main competitive advantage

“My athletic path is different. I quickly realised that this is not just a race to sweat and catch my breath. Sport is a competition in learning. Knowledge acquisition, knowledge management and creative learning techniques have played a key role in my growth as an elite athlete. They are also a crucial part of how I have combined my medical studies and my current PhD research with goal-oriented sport.”

“That’s why cooperation Mobien feels like a natural step. I look forward to seeing what new opportunities we can build together to support knowledge acquisition, learning and development – both in my own career paths and in society at large.”

“At the same time, the partnership provides me with a channel to share my knowledge and experience for the benefit of others. I believe that together we can create ways to help people learn, realise and achieve their goals more effectively.”

CompetenceX and Joel create a new training programme for elite sports

A key part of the collaboration is a new training programme focused on learning and performance development in elite sport, built on the Mobie CompetenceX platform. The programme will draw on Joel’s extensive expertise as an athlete, physician and researcher – a combination that is unusually strong both nationally and internationally.

Joel’s aim is to refine his own training and coaching model towards a highly refined, evidence-based package that combines:

  • exercise physiology
  • medical knowledge
  • monitoring of recovery and load
  • mental coaching
  • the use of data and analytics
  • goal-oriented learning and knowledge management

This model will evolve along his own path towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics – and in the process become the basis for a unique training programme that Mobie will help to refine into professional online courses and learning packages. Competence X -platform makes these packages possible:

  • build visual, interactive learning experiences
  • reproduce and publish for different audiences
  • sell on Joel’s own branded digital marketplace
  • to be used more widely in the development of Finnish and international top-level sport

The programme will be a historic effort: collecting tacit knowledge, methods, insights and research-based practices from throughout Joel’s career – and storing, articulating and sharing them in a sustainable way for others to benefit from. The aim is not just to support one athlete, but to create a long-term, knowledge- and sport-developing entity that combines the best of elite sport, learning, data and digital coaching.
