About us
Our Story – A Pioneer in Digital Learning
We are Mobie, a software company from Kuopio, Finland, and a pioneer in digital learning.
For over a decade, we’ve been building learning environments where technology, artificial intelligence, and human expertise work hand in hand.
Our journey began in 2010, when Kari Vatanen founded Mobie and Joni Kollani joined as the first employee to develop a new way to learn and teach.
Our early projects included mobile services and interactive applications for organizations such as the Confederation of Finnish Industries and the Finnish Road Safety Council. Around the same time, Mobie Zine was born – a digital publishing platform that is still in use today.
In 2013, we launched the OnEdu development project, where over 100 educational institutions and nearly 2,500 teachers helped us create the digital learning environment of the future. That project was a turning point for us – and set in motion everything we are today.
In recent years, we’ve focused strongly on AI-assisted learning solutions. For us, AI is not an end in itself, but a tool that makes learning easier and gives people more time for creativity and insight.
In 2023, our company gained new momentum when Risto Vahanen joined Mobie, taking our operations in a more international direction. Today, we have partners and teams in India and Egypt, yet our heart still beats in Kuopio.
